I can’t see why these shouldn’t be impounded by council when left laying on footpaths or in places openly to case damage.
The council is responsible for letting them extend there contact or is it the labour government
These things should not be in Ballarat.
🌳 Ballarat’s community is now being asked to engage with the City of Ballarat about what is important to them at the Eureka Stockade Gardens and why, as well as if there are any improvements that could be undertaken to enhance the reserve area.
Consultation opens on 15 May 2024 and closes on 15 June 2024.

Just who is paying for this I would rather see a pool there for all seasons heated in winter with a nice Cafe.
And more kids go through life not learning to swim and have fun at their local pool.
Any shade over the water features?

I would love to see a large investment in social and public housing in Ballarat. But I think that's more in the scope of the state government than council
What about the two near Target
But Des would rather stick his beak into the Middle East conflict and leave our homeless problem to State and Federal Governments to handle.
🍃 The City of Ballarat received 900 responses from the initial round of consultation for the Open Space Strategy!
From those findings focus groups have now been developed:
◼️ Appropriate infrastructure: how fences, lights, toilets and bins should be used/available in open spaces.
◼️ Diverse play: how to make play areas engaging, fair and safe and how to encourage development through play.
◼️ Dogs in open space: how we manage dogs in open spaces to make everyone feel safe and welcome.
◼️ Universal design: how accessibility, equity and design principles are used in open spaces.
◼️ First Nations: Traditional Owners will provide input into connection to Country, acknowledgment and reflecting tradition in design.
◼️ Equity and priority: how do the City of Ballarat prioritise where to invest in open space.
◼️ Biodiversity and nature: how to manage biodiversity in an urban context and how to roll out across Ballarat.
◼️ Priority connections: where paths and trails should be connected.
◼️ Better development: how should open spaces be delivered in new growth areas.

Being more frugal with OUR MONEY, would be far better than crying out for even more money to waste!
What does this mean Dessy our Glorious Mayor and his sweetheart ❤️ can't Junket off to Europe to see the sights .😭😭😭
The Australian Local Government Association is calling for a new $500m per year local government community infrastructure fund in this week’s federal budget to better maintain libraries, galleries, cultural centres and community halls.
ALGA president Linda Scott – a Labor councillor on the City of Sydney Council and a former deputy lord mayor – said that a dedicated fund, indexed annually, would help support councils to revitalise needed community infrastructure.
She said that councils collected less than four per cent of national taxation and were reliant on state, territory and commonwealth funding.
Preliminary data from the ALGA’s 2024 National State of the Assets report, due to be released in coming months, shows that $8.1bn worth of local government buildings and facilities are currently in poor condition.
However, Ms Scott said the report also showed the amount of local government buildings and facilities in poor condition had dropped from 10 per cent to eight per cent.
“This is a fantastic result and testament to the increased federal investment in councils from both the Coalition and Albanese governments in recent years,” she said. “However, we must continue to invest in our critically important community infrastructure, and ALGA is calling for a new $500 million per year funding program in next week’s federal budget.”
The ALGA pre-budget submission said that $3.25bn was committed to the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program – supporting all 537 Australian councils – but this funding had now all been allocated.
It warned that failure to invest in building and maintaining community and transport infrastructure would reduce the lifespan of facilities and “transfer the cost of renewal onto future generations.”
“A new dedicated fund for community and transport infrastructure – distributed on a formula basis to all councils – would enable councils to address the growing demand for new and revitalised community and road infrastructure,” it said.
President of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA), Ian Daniels, said that community infrastructure – including roads, footpaths, cycleways, stormwater drains, parks, bridges, libraries and sporting facilities supported “nearly every aspect of our day-to-day activities.”
“Our communities depend on this vast network of assets for their livelihoods and wellbeing but often take them for granted until something fails. When infrastructure assets fail, councils are forced to react which erodes confidence and wastes valuable resources,” he said.
“IPWEA supports ALGA’s call to create a new, dedicated fund for community and transport infrastructure, similar to the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program.
“This approach provides councils with more options and opportunities to better plan for the maintenance and renewal of existing assets as well as the provision of new and upgraded assets that enhance the quality of life for our communities.”

Here’s a thing .. Cancel the New Athletic Track to be built at the current Showgrounds, just another wasted project and put that money towards Finishing Dyson Drive Link Bypass which will be used Daily by all the people not like an Athletic Track…

Large trees need to be removed from built up areas. In storms they can be dangerous, both to people, buildings, power lines, cars, and much more. We need more trees - but in forests and rural areas ONLY.
Well they were dangerous, that's why they were removed, yes they were old trees 🌳 and they were unsafe

Open up the foyers of the library, council and other community organizations, the homeless folk will appreciate being out of the weather at least. Employ some social welfare staff to do sleepovers in the areas. Problem solved at a minimal cost to rate payers and tax payers.
the politicians own large houses why not let a homeless stay with them

This will be one to keep a very close eye on, I could see Council running to State Government to remove the 'Rate Caping' and use this ploy against the council staffers in [their] quest for better pay and working conditions...
Go for it Council workers love to see the 9 Clowns 🤡 we have as Councillors get their Fat pay checks halved.
Good idea or not? Should rates money be contributing to renewable energy projects such as this? ... See MoreSee Less

No , rate payers payments are not meant to be used like this, it’s for general up keeping of roads, rubbish removal etc.

Question is - Did you take the photo Juliana Addison MP, if Not when was the last time you walked around the lake when All the lights were working
Ballarat people will always freely take what enjoyment they can from TheLake because it’s theirs. Sad that under the guise of a Masterplan we see TheLake redetermined by Governments and their Agencies to become an Inland Aquatic Venue far from its original intended purpose…
So that's 2 people we can see. Probably more than using the bike track on Sturt St that was forced on us. Funny currently travelling in Europe and the bike paths are used constantly, but they are part of the footpath and not in the middle of an Avenue.

Sick of sending snaps in on illegal scooters and the BCC just flip it off as someone else’s problem. Whose is getting the money from these scooter companies.
Best thing to do would be to walk up and unplug the charger cord 👍🏻
Needs a set of stop sticks under it

All fine and good for those over 55 who can afford to buy into a place like this but more government housing units are needed in Ballarat suburbs for those on a pension or disability pension, the fastest growing homeless demographic is women over 50.
